Prank goes awry: Boise man arrested for brandishing gun at teenagers who toilet-papered his house

Three boys toilet-papering houses in south Boise were confronted by a homeowner who was arrested for aggravated assault.

BOISE, Idaho — A Boise man, 25-year-old Al Azzawi, was arrested on three felony counts of aggravated assault after he confronted a group of teens that had toilet-papered his house on Monday, Jan. 1, according to the Ada County Sheriff's Office (ACSO).

Around 10 p.m. on Monday police had gotten a call from someone in the Charter Pointe subdivision about people toilet-paper pranking houses and driving away. Police said while they were en-route they received more calls that a homeowner had located the teens, and they were at the house.

Police said when they arrived, they found the teens, boys ranging from 14 to 17 years old, who told them they had been pranking the house when someone came out and yelled at them. They also told police that as they were driving away a man in a tow truck stopped them, blocked their car and brandished a gun.

"The teens told deputies Al Azzawi pointed the gun at them and ordered them to get out of the car or he would shoot them," an ACSO representative told KTVB. "Once outside, they said Al Azzawi grabbed one of the boys and took turns pointing the handgun at all three."

They also told police that Azzawi said he would shoot them if they didn't follow him back to his house. Police said when they interviewed Azzawi he said he had pointed the gun at the teens but that the gun was unloaded.

Police arrested Azzawi and booked him into the Ada County Jail. The teens were released to their parents. The teens have not been charged with anything at this point in the investigation.
