Caldwell Police looking for suspects after using new tech that detects gunshots

Police say a gunshot detection system alerted the department to shots fired early Saturday morning and are looking for suspects.

CALDWELL, Idaho — The Caldwell Police Department (CPD), announced the use of a gunshot detection system that alerted the department to shots were fired early Saturday morning at Freeport Street and 5th Avenue around 2:30 a.m. No one was shot but CPD is looking for suspects.

"Officers were alerted to the gunshots with gunshot detection system technology, designed to detect, record, and locate the sound of gunfire and then alert law enforcement," a news release stated. "Detectives are searching the area to catch the responsible parties and to ensure law abiding citizens can live in peace free of illicit gun crimes."

CPD is asking anyone with information to call 208-343-COPS or non-emergency dispatch at 208-454-7531.
