BOISE, Idaho — A Boise man is behind bars after police say he threatened officers with an axe during a confrontation Saturday.

According to Boise Police, officers were called out to help Idaho Department of Health and Welfare staff deal with a man on Rowland Lane, off of State Street.

Police arrived and tried to make contact with the man, identified as 30-year-old Jake A. Todd.

According to Boise Police, Todd then approached the officers carrying an axe.

The officers called out to the man to stop, but he continued to walk towards them with the axe raised, police say. As Todd got closer, one of the officers used a Taser on the suspect, causing him to drop the axe.

Officers were then able to take him into custody.

Todd was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail on two felony charge of aggravated assault on an officer.

He is currently held on a $50,000 bond, and is due back in court Feb. 22.
