GARDEN CITY, Idaho — Boise Fire and Garden City Police are investigating after two fires sparked along a canal bank in Garden City Wednesday afternoon.

The fires burned along two separate stretches of the canal between Curtis Road and Glenwood Street. Investigators believe the fires were intentionally set and are now looking for the person responsible.

The first fire was reported just after 2 p.m. and the second was called in shortly after. Both fires were less than a quarter acre in size, and crews were able to knock down the flames quickly.

A Boise Fire Department spokesperson declined to say why investigators suspect arson, citing the ongoing investigation.
