BOISE, Idaho — Two men were arrested in Caldwell on Wednesday in connection to a "domestic violence incident" that left a woman in the hospital, the Canyon County Sheriff's Office said.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 23 in Payette County, where deputies were searching for a 9-year-old and 7-year-old who officials said were taken by their father following the incident.

Payette County deputies determined the suspect was known to spent time at multiple locations in Canyon County. Authorities said the 37-year-old man and two children were found at one of the locations on Highway 44 around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The residence belonged to a relative of the suspect in the domestic violence incident, according to the Canyon County Sheriff's Office. A 36-year-old man was also taken into custody Wednesday morning.

The 9-year-old and 7-year-old are now in the custody of another family member and were not harmed, a news release said.

Tuesday's incident is under investigation by the Payette County Sheriff's Office, who can be contacted at 208-642-6006 for additional information. Sheriff Andy Creech thanked Canyon County deputies for their assistance in the case.

“This is a great example of interagency cooperation leading to a successful conclusion,” Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue said. “I’m thankful we were able to assist Sheriff Creech and his team and locate the children safely.”
