If you have been to a Boise State Football home game this season, you no doubt have noticed the new music rocking the stadium. It's all part of the new Bronco fan experience. The man behind the music is a familiar face for Bronco fans. Faraji Wright played for Boise State from 2008 to 2012.
"I played offensive tackle and offensive guard, that was back when I was like 315 pounds,," he said.
He says going to Boise State and playing football was one of the best experiences of his life.
"I learned so much on and off the field, I was under Coach Pete, and I tell people he was more of a life coach, than a head coach," Wright said. "Some of my best friends came from this team, and I still have those relationships so I'm really grateful."
Since graduation in 2012, Wright has been focused on building a music career in California, but that passion was alive and well when he was a student here at Boise State, too.
"As much as I loved football, it was one of my passions, but it wasn't my main passion. Music was," Wright said. "I was the guy in the dorms who had a microphone set up and a keyboard. People would come over and record. Now to actually be living it and being able to live off it and travel the country and stuff - it's a blessing."
Faraji is now well known in music circles as Rexx Life Raj.
"I rap and sing and produce and song write," he said.
His career is booming. He released his debut album Father Figure in 2016, and he's releasing his second album this week.
"Putting out different projects and working with different artists, and just building my own brand - it's insane," he said. "It's a dream come true, that's always what I wanted to do with my life."
This summer, he got a phone call from Boise State Football asking him to be the stadium DJ for games.
"It's kind of like coming home. It's like my second home," Wright said of his return to the Blue. "Everytime I come here I get chills and memories. My main focus is to get the players as pumped up as possible. I can tell I'm doing a good job when I play music and I can see the players feeling it, but at the same time I'm trying to balance it and give the fans what they want and make it a family friendly experience."
Wright says being back on the blue this season - has been incredible.
"I've just been trying to find a way to give back, and this is a great way," he said
