A breezy and cooler Friday with some stray thunderstorms possible this evening

The daily forecast from Idaho's largest, most experienced team of meteorologists.

BOISE, Idaho — We'll wrap up the work week with cooler, breezy, and slightly unsettled conditions courtesy of a cold front that trekked across the Gem State early Friday. The Treasure Valley saw a quick round of rain overnight, but by sunrise, the precipitation had shifted eastward to the Magic Valley and the central mountains, and those areas will likely continue to see scattered showers throughout the day.

In the Boise area, there's a slim chance of a sprinkle or two, but we should stay mostly dry with a brisk wind throughout the day and spotty sunshine mixed with clouds. Temperatures will drop to their coolest point of the week, into the mid-60s in the Treasure Valley and upper 50s in the Magic Valley, though those northwesterly winds will make it feel cooler.

This afternoon and evening, keep an eye on the sky as there's a chance of isolated thunderstorms developing across the area, though it will be tough to pinpoint exactly where those storms might pop up. Gusty winds, small hail, and bursts of rain are the biggest threats from these storms.

For the weekend, the Treasure Valley clears up and warms up just a bit, with temps rebounding only a couple of degrees over Friday but much more sunshine! Some pop-up showers are still possible east of Boise and in the central mountains on Saturday, with our next (mostly dry) cooldown coming in early next week.
