BOISE, Idaho — Boise State linebacker Tyson Maeva says he is no longer a member of the football team.

The starting senior-to-be made the announcement on Twitter Thursday night, saying his "time at Boise State has been cut short by a decision I made and regret."

Maeva, who finished second on the team with 61 tackles this season, was sent home early from the First Responder Bowl for a "violation of team standards."

There is no word on if the bowl incident is related to Maeva leaving the team.

In the post, Maeva thanked the coaches, teammates, and fans for their support.

"I am prepared to deal with the hardships I have ahead in order to continue my success as a student athlete," he added.
