BOISE, Idaho — Searchers recovered a man's body from a remote area of the Boise foothills on Thursday, authorities said.
The spot where the remains were found is in the same general area where a young hiker from Mountain Home disappeared last month.
Kyle Crowden, 27, has been missing since Feb. 9. His family said he had planned to hike the Dry Creek Trail off of Bogus Basin Road that day, but never returned. Crowden's Toyota Camry was found at the trailhead.
Ada County sheriff's spokesman Patrick Orr tells KTVB that the body was discovered by a hiker Wednesday night off Dry Creek Trail. It was more than 30 feet down a ravine, and was partially hidden from view under a tree and thick brush.
Orr said there were no signs on trauma on the body, which has not yet been identified.
The Ada County coroner could release the person's identity as early as Friday.
Crowden was an experienced hiker, his family said, and had been to the Dry Creek area many times before. On the day he went missing, however, he had planned to hike for only a few hours and did not bring supplies to spend a significant amount of time out in the cold.
The Idaho Search and Mountain Rescue and Ada County Sheriff's Office launched an extensive search with dogs and and helicopters, but found no sign of Crowden.
The searchers' efforts were hampered by rain, snowstorms and freezing temperatures, and on Feb. 13, officials suspended the search efforts. Crowden's family continued searching on their own, but were unsuccessful.
The 27-year-old's mother, Janet Coupe, told KTVB in February that she was not going to give up the search.
"Wherever he is, I want my son back," she said.
The official search picked back up again in mid-March, after weather conditions improved, but teams struck out again.
