Family of slain Nampa woman: 'We ask for prayers in this time of need'

The family of 22-year-old Kymberlee Larsen has set up an account to raise money for her memorial and for her infant son.

NAMPA -- The family of a young woman stabbed to death by a former boyfriend in Nampa released a statement Thursday thanking the community for its support.

"Our family would like to thank the neighbors, community and friends who have supported us during this difficult time. We want to acknowledge the first responders for their swift and justified actions that undoubtedly saved our loved ones from further tragedy in this senseless event," family members wrote in the statement, which was provided to KTVB by the Canyon County Sheriff's Office.

"We ask for prayers in this time of need and appreciate our privacy as we continue to heal. We are graciously accepting monetary donations via Kymberlee’s GoFundMe account. Any physical donations such as diapers, clothing or necessities for Kym’s beloved infant son, Donovan, can be dropped off at the Nampa Police Department."

Kymberlee Ann Larsen, 22, died from multiple stab and slash wounds after an attack by 29-year-old Evan Bashir Tuesday morning. Bashir also seriously injured her sister, Chelsea Larsen, and mother, Julianna Flowers.

Both women underwent surgery for their wounds, and are expected to survive. Three small children in the home, including Kymberlee Larsen's baby, were not hurt.

Larsen's high school friend Alexis McCluskey remembers her as sweet, genuine and was dumbfounded when she learned the tragic news.

"I was shocked. I couldn't believe what that innocent, sweet girl had to go through - something as brutal as that," McCluskey said. "It made me sick to my stomach, like I never thought she would have had to go out like that."

A Nampa police officer shot and killed Bashir, who was still armed when officers arrived, according to the Canyon County Sheriff Kieran Donahue.

Donahue said the relationship between the suspect and victim had been "deteriorating" for some time, although it's unclear whether law enforcement had had dealings with the pair before Tuesday's carnage.

The sheriff's office is handling the investigation. To donate to Larsen's family, click here.
