Slightly unsettled Monday but still abnormally warm for the work week

The daily forecast from Idaho's largest, most experienced team of meteorologists.

BOISE, Idaho — On the heels of a very warm and very sunny spring weekend, a few changes are in the works Monday as a quick-hitting disturbance will roll across southern Idaho during the day today. A few lightning strikes were spotted before sunrise in SE Oregon Monday, and more thunderstorms could be brewing later in the day as instability and warmth increases. The wind will pick up as well, with gusts up to 30mph possible across the Treasure and Magic Valleys this afternoon.

Temperatures will dip just a few degrees today as a weak cold front pushes through, but Boise will still warm to about 80° Monday, with upper 70s in the Magic Valley and upper 60s in the mountains. Most of the unsettled weather is expected to remain east and north of Boise, but still, storms could pop up sporadically across our viewing area through sunset with gusty winds, small hail, and bursts of rain all possible.

Today's low-pressure system will quickly exit the region tonight, leaving a breezy but dry Tuesday in its wake. Temperatures will dip a bit further tomorrow, down into the upper 70s in Boise, but then high pressure takes over again mid-week which will send temps right back into the low 80s with abundant sunshine for the remainder of the work week.

The weekend forecast is still a bit uncertain right now, as a low-pressure system is slated to move across the Northwest Saturday and Sunday which will likely serve to bring in cooler conditions and rain chances, but how much precipitation we might see is still up in the air.
