BOISE, Idaho — Boise and surrounding Treasure Valley areas saw additional snow accumulations overnight, prompting most area school districts to close Wednesday, Jan. 17. Road conditions have declined and are making for messy commutes. Many agencies are asking drivers to take it slow and travel with caution.

Weather update

The arctic air mass that kept our area abnormally cold the last few days helped set the stage for quick snow accumulation on the roadways, as surfaces are frozen and the snow stuck very quickly. Several inches of accumulation are expected through midday Wednesday in the Treasure Valley and surrounding areas, with off-and-on waves of precipitation rolling in from the west.
