Saint Alphonsus acquiring 3 Saltzer Health locations

The hospital is purchasing Saltzer's Ambulatory Surgery Center on Ten Mile, as well as Urgent Care Centers in Meridian and Nampa.

BOISE, Idaho — Saint Alphonsus announced it will be acquiring three Saltzer Health locations in the Treasure Valley. The revival comes just days after Saltzer Health closed down its facilities in Idaho on March 29

The hospital will be gaining ownership of Saltzer's Ten Mile Ambulatory Surgery Center, as well as two Treasure Valley Urgent Care Centers - one in South Nampa on Hawaii Avenue, and on in Meridian off Vanguard Way.

"We thought that this would be an opportunity to work with them to make an orderly transition," Saint Alphonsus Chief Financial Officer Lannie Checketts said.

Checketts said the change in ownership will come with a change in signage for the buildings. But many other things that patients are used to will likely stay the same.

"Really, a lot of the employees and the providers or physicians will be the same that people have been accustomed to," Checketts said. "We're hoping that that'll be the case, anyway - there's a lot in flux. We don't know exactly how many will be remaining with us, but I think a lot of it is going to look very similar in that respect."

The two Urgent Care Centers will be closed this month while Saint Al's installs new IT equipment and changes out medical record systems. The centers will reopen in May.

"Those have been offering important services to two separate communities," Checketts said. "And we felt like that made sense for those to continue."

The Ambulatory Surgery Center off Ten Mile will continue to operate without any closures.

Intermountain Health, Salter's parent company, made the announcement in January that they would be selling off or ceasing all operations in Idaho by March 29, citing financial issues.

Also on Monday, another health group - Intermountain Medical Imagining - bought Saltzer Health Imaging, which is located at the Saltzer Ten Mile medical campus.

For patients impacted by the Saltzer closure, the company says a number of other providers are staying in the area through other medical groups or by starting their own practice. A full list of providers can be found here
