Air Quality Alert in place for Treasure Valley; placed in 'orange' category

Treasure Valley air quality is currently listed as "unhealthy for sensitive groups."

BOISE, Idaho — The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality issued an Air Pollution Forecast and Caution to notify residents of the Treasure Valley of unhealthy air quality.

The air quality is currently in the unhealthy category and is "unhealthy for sensitive groups category."

Sensitive persons should limit the amount of time spent outdoors for the duration of the unhealthy air alert, as well as limit prolonged or heavy exertion. The general public should not be affected.

Outdoor Burning Restrictions: All outdoor open burning is prohibited by the Department of Environmental Quality in accordance with local ordinances.

The air quality alert is set to expire Monday at 3 p.m.

A new record high for Boise yesterday, and it's possible again today... . It got me thinking: We all "know what to do" when it's hot out. Hydrate, limit time in the heat, seek shade, etc. Heat related illness is the #1 weather related cause of fatalities. It can be serious business.
