FILER, Idaho — The highway is completely blocked after the driver of a milk truck hit black ice and crashed south of Filer early Thursday morning.

The wreck happened just before 12:30 a.m. on U.S. 93, near the intersection of East 3800 North.

According to Idaho State Police, 32-year-old Antonio Hernandez-Guzman was headed south in a semi truck hauling two empty milk trailers when he hit black ice and lost control. The truck veered into oncoming lanes, then went off the shoulder, hitting a power pole and a stop sign.

Hernandez-Guzman's truck came to a stop in the barrow pit. He was wearing a seatbelt, and wasn't injured in the crash, police say.

The collision with the pole knocked down power lines, completely blocking both the north and southbond lanes. More than 100 customers in the area are currently without power.

Idaho State Police, Idaho Power, Twin Falls County Sheriff's Office, Filer Police Department, and Filer Fire Department were all called out to the crash.

Crews are working to clear the scene now, but the highway remains blocked in both directions. Idaho Power estimates that electricity will be restored to everyone affected by the outage by about 8 a.m.
