Cole Road widening project complete and opens to traffic

ACHD says the Franklin/Cole intersection was also widened and will be much more efficient for traffic.

BOISE, Idaho — A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Wednesday morning to celebrate the completion of the Cole Road widening project.

The Ada County Highway District held the event at Calvary Baptist Church.

The project widened Cole Road between Franklin Road and Interstate 84 to two lanes in each direction and also added curbing, gutter, sidewalk and bike lanes.

It also widened the intersection at Cole and Franklin roads.

A ground breaking ceremony marked the opening on the Cole Road widening project Wednesday morning.

"The entire intersection was redone and widened, so much more efficient for traffic flow and we had a pretty serious bottleneck, so it's much more efficient for the traveling public, both vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle," said ACHD Commission President Rebecca Arnold.

The total cost of the project was $9.5 million.
