BOISE, Idaho — Boise city leaders hope a new curbside pick-up and drop-off zone downtown will increase safety, while also easing congestion and improving traffic flow on weekend nights.
A pilot program to test out the loading zone begins on Friday, April 5 and runs through Saturday, April 27.
The zone will extend from the southside of Main Street, between South Capitol Blvd to South 6th Street, and will be available for taxis, ride-sharing companies like Uber and Lyft, and the general public.
City officials say police officers will be on site during the pilot program, and any drivers who park in the pick-up and drop-off zone between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights will be issued parking citations and potentially towed.
If the pilot program is successful, the city may choose to implement the pick-up and drop-off zone permanently on Friday and Saturday nights.
