WASHINGTON D.C., DC — A former prep standout heard his name called during the 2019 MLB draft this week.

Jackson Cluff, a graduate of Rocky Mountain High School and current shortstop for BYU, was drafted 183rd by the Washington Nationals on Tuesday.

The former All-SIC and All-State Grizzly hit .327 this past season for the Cougars, leading the team in doubles, RBI's and stolen bases.

Cluff spent the previous two years on a church mission before starting his collegiate career.

Cluff says he plans to forgo the rest of his BYU eligibility and sign with the team.

He'll fly out to the Nationals' spring training facility in Florida this weekend.
