DALLAS — The Dallas Cowboy's rookie linebacker Leighton Vander Esch has been named to the NFL Pro Bowl, replacing Luke Kuechly from the Carolina Panthers.
Vander Esch led the team with 176 tackles, a Cowboys rookie record. He also had two interceptions, 111 solo tackles, two tackles-for-loss and started 13 games.
He is the first Cowboys rookie defensive player to make the Pro Bowl since 1981.
The Boise State product will join teammate and fellow Bronco alum, defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, in Orlando.
Lawrence had 64 total tackles, 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one interception.
Vander Esch and Lawrence are the only Boise State players to make the Pro Bowl this season.
