Boise State uses late run to get past Jackson State 70-53

BOISE — RJ Williams scored 18 on 7-of-9 shooting, Zach Haney had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and Boise State pulled away late to beat Jackson State 70-53 on Friday night.

The Broncos (1-1) scored 14 straight points capped by Justinian Jessup's dunk that made it 66-48 with 2:58 left to play. The Tigers (0-3) missed nine straight shots from the field during that run.

The Broncos pushed the lead to double digits on Jessup's 3-pointer that made it 41-31, but the Tigers twice cut the deficit to four.

Derrick Alston had a career-high 14 points and Jessup scored 11 for Boise State.

Venjile Wallis scored 21 on 9-of-11 shooting and Chris Howell had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Jackson State.
