Boise's Maggie Liebich wins Idaho Runner of the Year award

Maggie Liebich, who attends Riverstone International School but competes on the Boise High School track and field team, was named the Idaho Gatorade Runner of the Year after an impressive junior season.

BOISE -- Riverstone International School junior Maggie Liebich was named the 2018 Idaho Gatorade Runner of the Year on Thursday.

A middle distance runner, Liebich competes for Boise High School.

Last month, she won and set records in both the 800 and 1600 meter races at the Idaho state track and field meet.

Liebich is currently ranked number 21 in the nation in the 1500 meters after her impressive time of 4:32.81 at the Oregon Relays.

She is also ranked number 80 in the nation in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:46.87.

In the classroom, Liebich has maintained a 4.0 GPA and volunteers with the Ridge to Rivers trail system, which helps maintain hiking trails in the Boise Foothills.
