Former Boise State Bronco Leighton Vander Esch was officially introduced as the newest member of the Dallas Cowboys football team at a press conference on Friday, less than 24 hours removed from his first-round draft pick announcement.

BOISE — Thursday night featured a numerous amount of familiar faces as former Broncos took to the field in their new uniforms for the first week of the NFL preseason.

Cowboys first rounder and former Bronco star Leighton Vander Esch made his debut securing four solo tackles. Vander Esch turned some heads after his Thursday performance, getting some attention from Pro Bowler Dez Bryant:

The first rounder had this to say about his debut:

On the other side of the ball, Jeremy McNichols got some playing time for the San Francisco 49ers. He only carried the ball three times, totaling 15 yards, but punched in a 1-yard touchdown run mounting late comeback by the 49ers to secure a 24-21 victory.

Thursday night was also the debut for former BSU quarterback Kellen Moore.

No, he didn't suit up.

Instead, he exchanged his helmet and shoulder pads for a headset.

Many Idahoans are aware of Moore's transition from player to quarterback coach -- the past three seasons Moore served as a backup for Tony Romo and Dak Prescott. The Cowboys announced Moore as the new Cowboys quarterback coach back in late January of this year.
