Boise State claims third consecutive Mountain West Conference Championship, headed to NCAA Tournament

The Boise State women's basketball team is headed to the NCAA basketball tournament for the third year in a row after beating Wyoming in the 2019 Mountain West Conference championship game 68-51.

LAS VEGAS — The Boise State women's basketball team are Mountain West Champions for the third year in a row thanks to a big night in Las Vegas.

This is the Broncos' (29-4) fourth conference title in the last five years.

The last time the Broncos lost a Mountain West Conference game? 

Exactly 1,100 days ago against Wyoming (61-56).

Junior Braydey Hodgins followed her record-setting performance against Nevada in the quarterfinals with another standout game.

Hodgins was perfect from the floor all night, scoring a team-high 16 points against the Cowgirls.

A'Shanti Coleman added eight rebounds in the 68-51 win at Thomas and Mack Arena at UNLV.

As a team, the Broncos shot 50% from the field and were a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line.

Hodgins was named the tournament's MVP.

Senior Marta Hermida was also named to the Mountain West All-Tournament team.

This is only the second time in Mountain West Conference history that a team has won three consecutive championships.

The Broncos will know their first-round opponent when brackets are announced Monday, March 18 on ESPN.
