Boise Hawks arrive for 2016 season

BOISE -- The countdown to baseball season in Boise has officially reached single digits.

The 2016 Boise Hawks season gets underway in just over one week and on Wednesday, the team officially arrived in the City of Trees.

After spending the past few months in Arizona playing with the Colorado Rockies' extended spring training club, players are excited to play at Memorial Stadium.

"After a long spring training, we are ready to get out here and play some games in front of a real crowd and start playing some games that actually count," Hawks outfielder Bobby Stahel said.

Ryan Stephens, who will join Stahel in the outfield, said the team is excited to be able to play in front of their hometown crowd.

"We've been spending about two months in extended spring training so everybody is a little anxious to get out on the field," Stephens said.

Fans can get their first glimpse of the 2016 team on Saturday at Memorial Stadium during an open house from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
