Several Boise neighborhoods awarded grants

The West Bench Neighborhood Association is one of the neighborhoods that received funds from the city.

BOISE — Boise Mayor David Bieter has announced the Neighborhood Investment Program Fund for 2018 and 2019.

Part of the city's Energize Our Neighborhoods initiative, the program funds improvements in neighborhoods across the city and encourage a strong sense of community.

Through this initiative, the City of Boise has approved 21 capital projects worth over $800,000.

Ronnie Marler, President of the West Bench Neighborhood Association, is extremely pleased with the announcement.

"Just during this last little sprint we have been on, we've had some visioning events with energize and giving out ice cream and meeting the neighbors and getting their ideas on what they like to see what’s happening in the neighborhood is very rewarding," Marler said.

The West Bench Neighborhood Association was awarded $107,000 to build a new picnic shelter and walking paths for the neighborhood park.
