TWIN FALLS - Doctors diagnosed Kerry Huffaker of Twin Falls, with stage 4 brain cancer in February and gave her months to live.

Time suddenly became more precious than ever.

Her 17-year-old son, Dylan, knew that. So, when it came time to find a date for prom, he couldn’t think of a better date than Mom.

Weeks before the Canyon Ridge High School prom, he visited his mom during radiation with a box of doughnuts that read “Will you go to prom with me?”

It was a sweet promposal.

"I said, 'You don't want to go to the prom with your bald old mom,' and he said 'You'll be the prettiest date there,'" recalled Kerry. "And I said, 'I won't embarrass you?' And he said, 'No you won't embarrass me,' and I was just so overcome. I was bawling my eyes out."

At the high school gym, Dylan asked the DJ to play Garth Brooks’ The Dance so he could have a special dance with his mom. Kerry said this was especially emotional for her, because she often thinks about missing a mother-son dance when her son gets married.

"It was his way of allowing me to experience with all the excitement, getting dressed up, feeling pretty, and being a part of something that he knew I probably am not going to be there for." said Kerry. "So he let me experience it through his senior Prom."

Kerry says recent visits to the doctor have shown the tumor has not grown since her treatment and surgery.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for the Huffaker family to cover Kerry’s medical expenses.
