Fruitland school holds inaugural Veterans Day ceremony

Treasure Valley Classical Academy started a new tradition on Monday by honoring our veterans.

FRUITLAND, Idaho — A new school in Fruitland hosted its inaugural Veterans Day ceremony Monday morning.

Treasure Valley Classical Academy kicked off its new tradition with a flag-raising ceremony, followed by a color guard performance, script reading and roll call of all veterans in attendance.

Steve Lambert, the principal of TVCA, says he talked to most of the kids before they went outside to attend the ceremony and told them that this would be an opportunity for them to practice three of their core virtues: self-government, courtesy, and perseverance.

"It's their own way of making a small sacrifice to something that for them is much bigger and perhaps for them something that may be out of their range right now, but as we do this every year the connection will become more and more alive,” said Lambert.

TVCA opened its doors for the first time just a few months ago in August.

The school promotes a classical curriculum emphasizing virtuous living, traditional learning and civic responsibility.
