Two from Mountain Home killed in I-84 motorcycle crash

Both people on the motorcycle were thrown off when the bike struck a construction barrel on the westbound side of I-84 near Exit 17, Idaho State Police say.

CANYON COUNTY — A motorcycle crash on Interstate 84 near the Sand Hollow exit has killed a man and woman from Mountain Home.

It happened just after noon Saturday.

Idaho State Police say Christopher Pierpont, 42, was operating a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle, with a passenger, Christine Pierpont, 43, heading west on I-84 when the motorcycle struck a construction barrel. Police say Christopher lost control, and he and Christine were thrown off of the motorcycle. They both died at the scene. Next of kin have been notified.

ISP says both of the victims were wearing helmets.

The Canyon County Sheriff’s Office, coroner and paramedics, as well as the Caldwell Fire Department, also responded to the crash.
