KETCHUM, Idaho — Three people have died in a head-on collision on State Highway 75 south of Ketchum, according to the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash just before 10 a.m. Wednesday, just south of the Elkhorn Road intersection on Highway 75.

Investigators say Peter Jarvis, 82, of Sun Valley, was southbound in a 2010 black Volvo when he crossed the center lane divider and collided with a 2007 white Toyota pickup driven by Piper Reed, 34, of Ketchum.

The sheriff’s office says Jarvis died at the scene. His passenger and wife, Sally Jarvis, 82, was transported to St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center. She died from her injuries at the hospital.

Piper Reed, also died from her injuries at the hospital. Reed’s dog, a golden retriever, was also killed in the collision.

"We send our thoughts and prayers to all those involved in this collision," Blaine County Sheriff Steve Harkins stated. "We also would like thank our first responders for the extremely difficult and challenging job they often face. Our community has already experienced several tragedies this year on our roadways, and I would like to remind everyone to drive safely, drive respectfully, and drive undistracted."

Police say all occupants were wearing seat belts.

The highway was closed for about two-and-half hours while first responders worked at the crash site. The crash remains under investigation.
