Therapy dogs visit medical students in Meridian

It was the last day of finals for most of the students.

MERIDIAN, Idaho — Medical students at ICOM received a special visit from some 4-legged friends.

Friday was the last day of finals week for the students, so a team of therapy dogs from a local nonprofit organization, Helping Idaho Dogs Incorporated, made a visit to provide a bit of stress relief and emotional support.

The student-doctors are wrapping up their cardiovascular exams.

"The students are pretty stressed out, it's the last day of finals so they're pretty wiped out," said Nancy Eimer with Helping Idaho Dogs. "The dogs love to give attention and to give loves and hugs and you can just see the students their faces light up and they just have fun for a minute."

The dogs also visit local hospitals, memory care, and assisted living homes to provide love and care.
