BOISE -- One person has been taken to the hospital after a wreck with a power pole in Boise Wednesday morning.

The crash happened before 11 a.m. at the corner Elwood Drive and South Gekeler Lane, just past Linden Street.

A silver Chevrolet SUV hit the pole, snapping it off in the middle. The top half of the pole is currently dangling above the street, suspended by the power lines.

Gekeler Lane is blocked in the area, and Idaho Power has been called to the scene. About 200 customers in the area are without power, according to Idaho Power.

It will take at least six hours to replace the pole, according to Idaho Power, but authorities hope to have Gekeler Lane open with flaggers by shortly after noon.

The front of the SUV appears to have crumpled in the collision. It's unclear how seriously the patient was hurt, or whether there were multiple people in the SUV.
