NAMPA - Police detectives in Nampa are investigating after a man's body was found inside a burning car early Sunday morning. The man's death is described by police as suspicious.

Sgt. Tim Riha said officers and the Nampa Fire Department were called to the parking lot of an apartment complex at Victory Road and Sugar Avenue just after 3:30 a.m.

After putting out the fire, a man's body was found inside the passenger seat of the Volvo sedan. The cause of the fire and the cause of death are both under investigation, Riha said.

Neighbors who didn't want to go on camera for fear of their safety told KTVB that they heard loud bangs before seeing the car on fire.

Police want to talk to two people who were at the scene when firefighters arrived. They are also asking any witnesses to come forward.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday. Nampa Police Sgt. Tim Riha said Monday morning that investigators are still working to identify the victim.

Anyone with information is urged to call Nampa Police dispatch at 465-2257 or Crime Stoppers at 343-COPS.
