NAMPA, Idaho — Six families are suing both the Southwest Idaho Treatment Center in Nampa and the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare over claims of abuse, neglect, and mistreatment.

The claims of cruelty date back to 2017.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare operates the treatment center.

The department said in a statement, "The department said it takes all allegations made about the health and safety of individuals with developmental disabilities very seriously."

"The department has communicated with the plaintiff's attorney and remains willing to discuss and attempt to resolve the plaintiff's concerns without resorting to court action," they continued.
