BOISE — The Boise City Council has approved a request to remove a well-known mosaic.
The 4-year-old artwork is located at the intersection of Crescent Rim Drive and Eastover Terrace near the Boise Depot.
The city says the request to remove the piece was approved with a heavy heart.
They say the artwork has suffered from major deterioration including loss of tiles, expansion and contraction of concrete due to fluctuating temperatures, and damage due to heavy construction and emergency vehicles driving over the roundabout.
With the council's approval, the city will proceed with the removal of the mosaic surface and the substrate.
