Riggins man dies after motorcycle crash in Caldwell

Idaho State Police said a 19-year-old motorcyclist failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into a Chevrolet Blazer on Monday morning.

CALDWELL — A Riggins man was killed when he crashed his motorcycle in Caldwell Monday morning.

Idaho State Police responded at around 5 a.m. to a fatal crash at the intersection of South 10th Avenue and Fillmore Street.

ISP said 19-year-old Richard Cook was riding a 1979 Honda motorcycle east on Fillmore, and Daniel Lasiter, 27, of Caldwell was driving north on South 10th Avenue in a 1996 Chevrolet Blazer.

Cook failed to stop at the stop sign and collided with the Blazer. He was ejected from the motorcycle and was transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where he died from his injuries.

Cook wasn't wearing a helmet.

Lasiter was transported by ground ambulance to West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell. He was wearing a seat belt.

ISP is investigating the crash.
