Meridian Canine Rescue looks 'Through the Eyes' of adoptable dogs and puppies

Volunteers and staff are spending 24 hours experiencing what it's like to be inside an animal shelter. They're also raising money and connecting these puppers with their forever families.

MERIDIAN, Idaho — Volunteers and staff at Meridian Canine Rescue have again taken an inside look at what it's like to be in an animal shelter during the fourth-annual Through Their Eyes event.

During an overnight sleepover from 6 p.m. Thursday until 6 p.m. Friday, humans have been getting cozy in a kennel with adoptable dogs and puppies. They've been doing pretty much what the puppers do: eating when they eat, sleeping, going for walks - and, of course, lots and lots of playing.

"The goal for this event is to raise $10,000 by midnight tonight for our cause," Meridian Canine Rescue Executive Director Jessica Ewing said. "We would also love it if every one of the dogs participating goes home with their forever family.

"We are open 12-5 Thursdays through Sundays, so if you miss out on coming by today, you can check our website, and see who is available for adoption and we'll see you this weekend."

Although the event ends at 6 p.m. Friday, you can still donate online until midnight.
