Man shot in Baker City: Police investigating

Detectives have identified a person of interest in the shooting, but have not yet located that person.

BAKER CITY, Ore. — Police are searching for a suspect in a shooting that sent one person to the hospital in Baker City early Monday morning. 

The shooting happened at 1:30 a.m. in the 1500 block of Indiana Avenue. 

Baker City Police identified the victim as 25-year-old Juan Anthony Martinez, who suffered a single gunshot wound. Martinez was taken to Saint Alphonsus in Baker City, then transferred to a hospital in Boise. His current condition is unknown.

Detectives with the Baker County Major Crime Team say they have identified a person of interest in the shooting, but have not yet located that person. The person of interest's name and any motive in the shooting have not been released. 

Investigators say the shooting was an isolated incident, and there is not believed to be any danger to the community.
