KTVB wins five regional 2018 Murrow Awards

BOISE -- KTVB has been awarded five regional 2018 Edward R. Murrow Awards by the Radio Television Digital News Association.

The winners were announced Wednesday. Murrows are among the most prestigious award in broadcast journalism.

KTVB competed against small-market television stations in Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. KTVB won five of the 15 Murrows in that category, the only Idaho TV station awarded.

The winning entries from Channel 7 are listed below:

Excellence in Sound: Albertsons worker brings cheer to the checkout line

Excellence in Video: 360 VIDEO -Twin Falls BASE jumper breaks world record

Excellence in Innovation: 360 - Immerse Yourself in Idaho Life

Feature Reporting: 360 - In Love with a Lincoln

Newscast: News at Ten - Missing girls found safe

"We are extremely proud of our commitment to the community and telling important, inspiring, and engaging stories," KTVB Director of Content Lisa Chavez said. "The KTVB team strives to continue to set the gold standard in local journalism on all platforms. We are honored to be recognized by some of the most respected awards given to journalists."

Regional winners automatically advance to compete for a national Murrow award.

In 2017 KTVB was honored with four regional Murrow Awards for breaking news coverage: Table Rock Fire, excellence in social media: KTVB.COM, feature reporting: Dick's Chevron, and news series: The Corridor. The three-part investigation on the drug corridor also went on to win the national Edward R. Murrow Award.
