BOISE — The Wapiti Fire is slowing down, but there are still some fire-related area closures in the Boise and Sawtooth national forests this Labor Day weekend.

The Wapiti Fire is 33 percent contained.

It's located near Grandjean, 13 miles southwest of Stanley, and has burned 4,550 acres since it started last Saturday.

Grandjean, Alpine and Sawtooth lakes, Elk Meadow and Elk Mountain trailheads are closed.

Redfish Lake and developed campgrounds at Stanley Lake will be open this weekend, but dispersed camping in the Stanley Lake area is not allowed.

Highway 21 is open, but the road leading from the highway to Grandjean is still closed.

For more details on the closures, check the Facebook pages for the Boise and Sawtooth national forests -- or contact the Lowman ranger station.
