'She will be deeply missed': Thyra Stevenson, Idaho state representative, dies at 75

The representative from Lewiston suffered a severe heart attack last week.

LEWISTON, Idaho — Idaho state Rep. Thyra Stevenson has died, a week after suffering a serious heart attack.

She was 75.

The Lewiston Tribune reports that Stevenson, a Republican, represented the 6th Legislative District, which includes Nez Perce and Lewis counties.

She previously served on the Lewiston City Council. Stevenson suffered a heart attack May 4 and died Monday.

Monday afternoon, U.S. Sen. Jim Risch offered his condolences to Stevenson's family.

"Vicki and I are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Rep. Thyra Stevenson this morning," Risch said in a statement. "Thyra was a dedicated public servant for Nez Perce and Lewis Counties, and a great legislator and friend in the Idaho State House. Thyra's leadership will be greatly missed in the State of Idaho, and my prayers are with the Stevenson family during this difficult time."

Idaho Gov. Brad Little also offered his condolences Monday afternoon.

"Thyra was a diligent legislator and, simply put, a really nice person," Little said in a Twitter post. "Thyra knew her constituents well and served her district, state, and country with distinction. My condolences to Thyra’s loved ones and colleagues. She will be deeply missed."
