CALDWELL — Canyon County commissioners voted 2 to 1 Monday to approve a plan to house jail inmates in trailers to help alleviate overcrowding.

The plan is billed as a temporary solution. A company out of Missouri will build 28 metal trailers that connect together surrounded by 10-foot tall chain link fence and a razor wire across the top.

They will house 122 female inmates.

According to Canyon County spokesman Joe Decker, the company - All Detainment Solutions - would have until May of 2019 to deliver and install the trailers. They will be built in the jail's parking lot.

The installation of the trailers and the first year of the lease will cost the county $4.5 million.
