Caldwell hospital offers free meals to federal workers affected by shutdown

West Valley Medical Center will offer the free meals daily until the shutdown ends.

CALDWELL, Idaho — West Valley Medical Center is offering a helping hand to federal workers who are not receiving paychecks due to the ongoing government shutdown.

The hospital announced in a Facebook post that any federal employee affected by the shutdown can go to West Valley's cafeteria, show a government ID and receive a free meal.

The free meals will be provided until the end of the shutdown.

"I think that setting all the politics aside of the government shutdown, the people who are really affected are the employees who are either not working or working and not getting paid," West Valley CEO Betsy Hunsicker told KTVB. "So we wanted to do something for those folks as best we could."
