Boise homeless community mourns the deaths of 4 of their own in the past week

Boise Police said the deaths do not appear to be related or suspicious.

BOISE, Idaho — Members of the homeless community in Boise mourned the loss of four of their own on Tuesday.

A memorial service was held Tuesday at Corpus Christi House - one of Boise's homeless shelters - to remember those who died.

In the matter of a week, four members of the homeless community were found dead. Rose Jarvis, Nicholas Olsen, Christopher Weedman and Nathaniel Gaver all died near the areas of Corpus Christi House, Cooper Court and Rhodes Skate Park, according to the Interfaith Sanctuary.

The deaths do not appear to be related and there are no signs of foul play or anything suspicious, Boise police said.

“I think this just happens to be a random occurrence,” Det. Monte Iverson said. “During that time period, that area had high traffic and a lot of congestion, so I think it just happens to be a wrong place at the wrong time type of thing.”

Residents and employees at the Interfaith Sanctuary are in disbelief and focusing on supporting one another during this tough time.

“Each day you're hearing about someone passing away and you're not sure at first if they were confusing what happened yesterday with something that happened this morning, but in the end it turned out to be four different cases, four individuals, four people that were previously or currently homeless and passed away,” said Luther Pugh, the case manager supervisor at Interfaith Sanctuary.

Right now, the Ada County coroner is awaiting the toxicology reports to find out the official causes of death.
