Body found near pond by the Boise River identified

The 59-year-old man appeared to be living along the banks of the pond, according to investigators.

A 59-year-old man was found dead near a retention pond in Boise on Jan. 5.

BOISE, Idaho — The Ada County Coroner has identified the man that was found dead along the banks of a retention pond, near the Boise River and Eagle Island.

59-year-old Grant L. Young was found dead around 1 p.m., after a man was trying to find his dog found the body, near the Greenbelt, by W. Pebble Brook Lane and the east side Eagle Island.

Young was found 40 feet down a bank of the pond, with a campsite a couple hundred feet away from the scene.

Investigators say that evidence indicates that Young had been living there.

Ada County paramedics and Eagle Fire Department crews worked to recover the body and take it to the coroner's office.

On Monday, coroner's officials conducted an autopsy and identified Young.

Young's cause of death is still under investigation, pending on further test results.

There are no signs of foul play and does not appear that he was underwater at any time.
