NAMPA -- Two people were hurt when a passenger car and a cement truck collided in Nampa Thursday.

The crash happened just before 1 p.m. at the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and US 20/26.

According to Idaho State Police, 23-year-old Lazaro Nunez-Elizalde, of Meridian, was driving north on Franklin when he failed to stop at a stop sign and was hit by a cement truck, which was driving east on Highway 20/26.

The impact caused the cement truck to tip over onto its side. The car, which was significantly damaged in the crash, came to rest against a fence on the shoulder of the highway.

Investigators say both Nunez-Elizalde and the truck's driver, 43-year-old Jeremy Loftis, of Layton, Utah, were injured and taken to a Boise hospital. The severity of their injuries is not know.

Idaho State Police had the road blocked for about three hours while crews worked to clear the wreckage.
