Two drivers were killed in a head-on crash near Filer early Thursday morning.
According to the Idaho State Police, 27-year-old Thomas Stowell of Hagerman was westbound on US Highway 30 around 2:21 a.m. when his Dodge Ram pickup crossed the centerline and collided with a semi-truck pulling two trailers of sugar beets.
The accident happened at milepost 207. Police say the pickup was pulling a horse trailer full of firewood.
Deadly head-on crash near Filer
The driver of the semi was identified as 64-year-old Jason Roberts of Twin Falls. Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck.
Stowell was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. It is unknown if he was wearing a seatbelt.
Roberts was taken by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Hospital in Twin Falls, where he died from his injuries.
Highway 30 was blocked in each direction for seven hours.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
