BOISE, Idaho — Idaho State Police has identified the man accused of causing a string of crashes in Meridian and Boise Tuesday morning.
Twenty-year-old Daniel C. Edison of Nampa has been cited for DUI, and more charges are pending, according to police.
Edison, who was injured in the final wreck, remains at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, and has not yet been arrested. A hospital spokesman said Wednesday that Edison is currently listed in fair condition.
According to Meridian Police, Edison is responsible for a series of hit and runs at I-84 and Linder, I-84 and Meridian Road, and Franklin and Eagle before ending up in a multiple-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Cole and Emerald at 7:02 a.m.
Edison and his female passenger had to be cut from the wreckage of his Hyundai before being taken by ambulance to the hospital. Three other people were also hurt in the crash.
Court records for Edison show an extensive history of driving violations, including inattentive driving, speeding, driving without insurance or a license, tailgating, and driving a car without the owner's consent. In addition, Edison has faced criminal charges - some as a juvenile - for eluding police, drug possession, and theft.
Because he has not yet been booked into the jail, Edison's mugshot was not immediately available.
The crashes remain under investigation by ISP.
