BOISE — An alert from health officials after they found West Nile in Elmore County.
Officials say a single pool of the virus was located in Hammett, just southeast of Mountain Home.
The Elmore County Mosquito Abatement District treated the area and more testing will continue throughout the week.
Four Idaho counties including Canyon, Gem and Payette have tested positive for the virus this season.
As a reminder, make sure you are covering up your skin when you go outside and apply DEET or any other insect repellent.
Repair or replace screens in your home that may be broken.
Reduce standing water on your property.
And change bird baths and animal water tanks weekly.
