BOISE, Idaho — A Boise Fire HAZMAT team is on scene investigating reports of a possible chemical issue at the Grove Plaza Wednesday morning.

Boise Fire spokeswoman Char Jackson said a worker had gone into the vault beneath the plaza and flipped on a light when he saw a "flash" in the room.

Because that vault is used to store chemicals used to maintain the Grove Fountains, the worker alerted authorities out of a concern about a possible chemical leak.

About a third of the plaza is currently blocked off to foot traffic while crews investigate. Boise Fire is conducting air testing in the area.

Jackson said no one has been sickened or hurt, and there is not believed to be any threat to public safety. No evacuations are currently in place.
