An investigation is underway after a 9-year-old girl told police a man tried to grab her Tuesday evening.

The incident happened at about 5 p.m. in the area of NW 11th Avenue and West Woodbury Drive.

According to Meridian Police, the girl told officers that a man approached her and asked if she wanted some candy. She refused, and that’s when she said the man tried to grab her by the wrist.

The girl was able to pull away and run to safety.

The suspect is described as black man with a dragon tattoo on his upper left arm and a nose piercing. The girl said the man also had “odd front teeth,” and was wearing a mask over his eyes. He is possibly driving a black truck with a silhouette sticker of a cat in the rear window.

Police say the victim was recently adopted and moved to Meridian from California.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to call Meridian Police at 208-888-6678.
